First Day of Training

Today is the first day of NAWEM's newly launched training project. This project is very close to my heart and is the culmination of all the learning that I had acquired from running training programs for micro and small entrepreneurs for NAWEM from 2010 to 2016 as the Training Chairman as well running my own business.

It is my firm believe that for lasting impact the training must be experiential and applicable. For entrepreneurs we need to fail fast, learn, correct and try again - you may call it pivoting or reimagining. As entrepreneurs we will install many of our ideas, but the question is whether they bring the results that we want? To base our decision on facts, we will need to start using business experiments.

Business experiments allow us to gather real evidence how our ideas will work practically. The training further emphasizes on the need for a business strategy that is based on data; i.e, data-driven business models. We have also moved away from business plans and focus on teaching the use of the Business Model Canvas or the Lean Canvas, whichever suits the business.

We started by looking at some NAWEM nurtured success stories and how she managed to business that generates a 5 figure monthly income for her and allows her to spend time with her son. She just sells one product, and does it really well!
